1. What was your trip like to India?
It was an adventure! Myself along with 11 other young people from our church traveled thousands of miles away to a part of the world where poverty, idolatry and sickness ran ramped. There was no running water and the people there did not speak our language! Although we were in such an impoverished place we encountered people that were hungry for the power of God. God sent us out like superheroes to a dark and dying world. It was such an honor to be the eyes, hands, feet & mouth of God.
2. What did you do while in India? I traveled to number of different places including leper colonies, churches, tribal villages, orphanages, elderly and disabled homes with my team. In short, everywhere we went we would fellowship, sing, dance, preach and pray for the people. My team and I learned what it meant to carry the tangible presence of God with us. Throughout our time there we were able to see God use us for miracles and touch the lives of the people. God would also speak to us and show us visions of what we were to share with the people. 3. What was it like to help the youth there? What can I say? We cried when it was time for us to go home. The Indian children we met at the orphanages were so sweet, accepting and wanted to be loved. It was our desire to be a source of encouragement and love while we were with them. Whether we were jumping rope, coloring or giving a hug we used each opportunity to share God's love and in return we experienced God’s love through them as well. When I spoke to them I told them God had a purpose for their lives and that God can use them at any age. 4. What advice would you give teens who like you want to go on missions to other countries and help other children like you did? Pray and pursue the heart of God. My team and I spent months praying together before we ever made one plan to go overseas. During our time of prayer God would give us visions and words about the people in India. We had spent so much time with God that we gained his heart for the people of the world. There were times I found myself longing for the opportunity to share God's love with the people before I ever met them. I had a heart for what God wanted and that is to win the lost. 5. How important do you believe it is to realize who you are and embrace that even if it is the path less traveled? Knowing God and knowing who he created you to be is the best place to be. For young people, you will find that if you truly seek after God's purpose for your life its the path most won't take with you! God knew us before we ever took a single breath and it is no coincidence that we are alive and living in the time that we are. Its not always easy to pursue after God's way of doing things but its only in that place that you will ever be fulfilled. When you lose site of who you are thats when u fall. 6. Is there anything else you would like to say to teens or young adults who read the magazine? A year ago the thought of being in a third world country without the simple luxuries of the American life would have made me highly uncomfortable. Now, I am desperately awaiting the next time I will be able travel to a remote place in the world where people are in need of experiencing the love and power of God. Going on adventures with Jesus is thrilling and fun!
