Don't Quit!

Tasha Smith

Q. What type of obstacles have you faced in pursuit of your goals.
A: Fear was my biggest obstacle. Although I wanted to pursue acting as a career I just kept wondering what if I failed. I knew I hadn’t been professionally trained so I wasn’t sure what would make me succeed. Then I began to realize a lot of times our visions and dreams are God showing us a glimpse of our future.

Q. What has motivated you to keep going?
A: Ephesians 3:20! That scripture says that through God we are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we can ask think or imagine. So, I figured I may as well go after my goals. What was amazing is once I started to truly trust God and pursue my dreams opportunities for success started to meet me on my path.

Q. What advice would you give teens who are facing difficulty in pursuit of their goals?
A: Galatians 6:9 “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” So just don’t quit. You have more to lose by quitting. There were times when I had no idea where my next job would come from or when, but I learned to have faith and just keep pushing forward.

Q: You have recently added co-producer to your list of accomplishments. You are such an amazing woman and have already achieved so much, but I believe this is just another example that the only limits we have are the limits we put on ourselves! How did this new venture come about and what was it like?
A: I personally love worship and gospel music, so when I saw that the artist producing this genre of music were not getting the support they needed I really just felt honored that God had blessed me enough to be in a position to do something about it.

Q. I know you have TSAW for youth who are striving to become actors and do motivational speaking. I think it is great when people give back to youth. What is the experience like for you to work with these teens.
A: Well the purpose of the TSAW organization is to empower people to pursue their purpose in the arts. For me to be privileged enough to help someone get to their God given goal is the most fulfilling opportunity in the world. I really feel blessed to have this place in these young people’s lives I do not take it for granted!

Q: What one thing would you tell a teen?
A: Don’t look at y o u r future through your circumstances look at your future through your faith!
