Discovering Your Identity
Webster’s dictionary defines identity as the distinguishing character or personality of an individual. So what does this mean for you? Simply put it means that you choose your identity. It can be defined by things that interest you, how you view the world, how you treat people or a number of other things.
But, regardless of what you may have been told who you are in life is completely up to you. Yes, the environment that you are in can have a great effect on how you view things, but if you do not want to be defined as the person you feel people see you as think about what changes you can make to become that person you want to be.
Here are some quick questions you can answer to help you with defining your identity:
1.How would you describe yourself in five words?
2.If someone had to describe you in five words what five words do you think they would use?
3.Ask a friend or family member to be completely honest and tell you how they would describe you in five words.
4.How would you want people to identify you in five words?
5.What are 10 things you like to do?
6.Do you feel like the things you like to do are a good representation of how you would want people to identify you?
7.What are five things you could improve on?
