pages of your favorite fashion magazine, the images you see stick with you, whether you know it or not.
These images play a large role in shaping the body image you have of yourself. For instance, if you see
one of your favorite singers or actressees and she has what you consider perfect abs (practically a six-
pack), perfect hair, perfect skin, and a perfect outfit, you subconsiously start to envision yourself with
the same characteristics. Remember, that the perfect image you see on the perfume magazine ad is
most likeyly unrealistic because it is altered.
“Un-Masking the Real Man”
Who are you? No really, stop for a moment and really answer that question. “Who am I?” Are you a collection of thoughts, actions, and words spoken over you by your parents, friends, circumstances, and/or environment? My reason for starting this month off with such a question as this, is that for so many of us, our entire lives, are built around what others have said we should be and figured to play with the cards dealt to us by any one given issue. Well, this is not you! Considering my self, (for example) from age 14 up to about 21 years of age, my life was completely centered behind a mask. I grew up in place where because of a few decisions and family members, I had to become something I did not want to be.
