Summer Trends

Spring is definitely in the air and Summer is not too far away. As you know, for ever season change your wardrobe must change to accommodate the weather.  But that doesn’t mean you have to get rid of all your fall/winter pieces, and it doesn’t mean you have to break the bank to be trendy and current. Here are 5 spring/summer essentials that almost every girl already has in her closet.

The Tank –

Ladies this definitely is a must have! My personal favorite is the ribbed tank. But tanks come in all different colors and styles.

Trend Watch: Pastels, Nude, Army Green, & Navy Colored Tanks

Try this: An oversized tank layered with a fitted tank in a color combo of your choice paired with leggings and a flat shoe.

The Hoop –

You must have a signature hoop earring in both gold and silver. My personal favorite is the big hoop.

Trend Watch: Color pops- Hot Pink, Lime Green, Electric Blue

The Skinny –

I don’t know about you but at times I like to wear jeans in the hotter months. If you agree then you definitely need a signature pair of skinny jeans. Although one pair will do, I prefer to have a dark wash, light wash, and an in-between wash.

Trend Watch: Acid washed & Ripped

Try this: A pair of ripped or regular skinny’s with a tank (white). Then accessorize with a colored hoop and shoes to match.

The Legging –

Leggings have most defiantly become and essential/staple item in every females closet. You must have at minimum a black pair. My personal favorite is the denim legging. They are so comfy.

Trend watch: Mixed textures (Ex- Leather w/ lace)

The Scarf –

As we know the scarf is not only for keeping you warm in the winter anymore. It is a major fashion statement. So you can totally transition all of your cotton and lightweight fabric scarves into this season.

Trend Watch: Tie Died & Nudes

Try this: Try a skinny scarf tied as a bow around your neck, paired with skinny jeans, a tank and a pump.

Wearing What Fits

We are all made in different shapes and sizes which is great because it makes us unique. However, it is important that we remember this when we are selecting clothes to wear. This month we are going to take a look at Wearing what fits!

Not too small!

I know it is tempting to start with the smallest size you can fit in and work your way up if you have to but maybe you should try the process the other way around. It is not attractive when you are wearing pants that get that little crease by the crotch or the skirt that bunches up but wasn’t made to do that. Don’t be afraid to go one or two sizes up if you need to. Its better to have the right size. You will look a lot more neat and flattering.

Not too big!

With that being said, you also don’t want to wear your clothes too big! You do not want to be constantly pulling at the waste of your pants to keep them up or adjusting your shirt as it dangles off your body. I know this can be hard because if you see something that you like and they don’t have anymore sizes you probably just go for it thinking you will be fine because you are going up a size. That is not true, and wearing clothes that are oversized can cause you to look sloppy.

Crack is Wack!

I know that was lame, but it’s true! Contrary to what you may see the “stars” do it is not okay if every time you bend over or sit down we have to see the crack of your butt. A good solution for this is to either get a larger size or a belt.

Be true to you!

I know you see the trends change over the years but every trend is not for every body type or image being portrayed. See what styles or designs look nice on your body and reflect the image you want people to see in you and sick with that.

Valentine's Day: What she Should Wear

Valentine's Day: What to Wear

Every February on the 14th you get together with your friends and find all the red and pink you can wear. And, now that you are older and have passed the stage of getting the pack of Tinker Bell Valentine’s Day cards, you go on group dates with friends and buy chocolate and teddy bears for that someone special. Valentine's Day is a great excuse to wear a cute outfit and go out with friends, but it is important to dress appropriately, while making sure to showcase your Valentine style.

Be Comfortable! Don't feel that you need to wear a short dress to make yourself look more attractive. Most likely, you and your friend will be taking part in a fun activity  such as bowling or rollerblading for Valentine's Day, so think cute and comfortable! You can wear jeans and cute top so that you are ready for a night of bowling or dinner at your favorite restaurant.

Be Cute! Being cute on Valentine's Day does not mean that you have to wear a low cut shirt that shows cleavage or a short skirt that sends the wrong message to those around you. Instead of putting a lot of make-up on, consider showcasing your natural beauty by only wearing lip gloss. Think classy. Think cute.

Get Creative! Creating your own shirts or head bands for Valentine's Day with friends is a good way to bond while also saving money. There is no need to go out and buy a valentine shirt when you can spend a few dollars on fabric paint or iron-on letters. Ask an adult to help plan how you can make an old t-shirt into a new valentine creation! You may even want to add gemstones or fuzzy balls for a 3-D look! Don't cut the shirt too much because you don’t want your stomach showing or your shirt falling off your shoulders.

What to Wear on a Job Interview

What to Wear On Your Job Interview

If you’ve heard it once, you’ve heard it a million times… “First impressions are lasting impressions.” In particular, job interviews are the first and hopefully not the last time that the employer sees you. There are many things to keep in mind when preparing your attire for a job interview.

Girls - Dont’s

Do not wear Heavy Makeup because it can be distracting. Remember you are interviewing for a job not going out with friends.

Open-toed shoes normally do not have a business style. Open-toe shoes are more casual and should be left for church or dinner.

Short Skirts can be provocative and should not be worn to a job interview. Make sure that if you wear a business skirt it is at least knee length. To be safe, try wearing a pants suit.

Visible Tattoo and/or piercings should never be displayed during a business interview. That is unprofessional and may leave the wrong impression with the person interviewing you.

Clingy or low cut tops draw the wrong attention. You want the employer to listen to what you are saying, not be distracted. Beyond the employer, you should make personal judgments that tell you this is inappropriate for the workplace.

Girls- Do's

Wear modest colors such as black, navy blue, or beige. These colors will allow the focus to be on you and what you have to say.

Let your face be seen. Hair in your face is a big distraction to someone who is trying to get to know what you are all about. If your hair is in your face, you are normally constantly touching it and moving it out of your eyes. This may tell the employer that you are not interested.

Think church? Yes, think about church when you are planning your attire for a job interview. Business casual attire is appropriate for interviews in retail, food services, and secretarial positions.

Get approval! I know you may not want to ask your parents or grandparents what you should wear, but they can offer great advice. Think about it, they are probably around the same age as the personal that will be interviewing you.

Be well groomed. This includes ironing and washing your outfit the night before. Let them know you care.
