"Staying True to You"
Hey ladies. It’s that time again. I love our times we come together to talk about transitioning from girls to women. I think everyday we are faced with so many ideas of what we should be like as young ladies from how we should look, sound, smell and even how we should talk. It’s funny, right, that society tries to symbolize us but what’s crazier is that we sometimes succumb to it. What I’ve come to learn in life is that we find our self’s frustrated when we don’t know or accept who we are. I was once told that “No one can be a better me than me”. Until we are comfortable and accept who we are as individuals, we will always be easily persuaded and deceived in to being something that we’re not. Society constantly depicts this masquerade mentality which is to “cover up the flaws because no one likes them” and “it’s not popular”. However, we have to learn to love and embrace our weaknesses, either physical or mental, as well as, our strengths knowing that it’s my decision if I choose to change something. Don’t ever feel like you must change who you are in order to fit in. Remember from last month’s issue, don’t just go where the path leads, rather create your own path that others can follow you. You are unique and special in your own way. Don’t let society pull you in to the statics of life only to add on another label. This world needs your smile, your style, your personality and everything that makes up you. Remember you are motivated to become what you imagine you self to be. Stay true to your self!
