Vision In Progress is designed to encourage you to make better moral decisions and plan for your future.We chose Vision In Progress as the title for our publication because we believe every teen’s life is just that, a vision in progress.
Brief overview of each section:
Help:The “Help” section will include a question and answer column, where you can anonymously ask questions concerning topics you need advice on that you may not feel comfortable asking a parents or friend. An article we titled “Rehab,” will be an article written focusing on answering questions concerning problems that a lot of teens face, and giving step by step guidance on how to overcome that problem. Lastly, we will have encouraging quotes on how to deal with everything. When you need a burst of inspiration, you can think back on these simple words of wisdom.
Relationships:The “Relationships” section will cover more than your average boyfriend/ girlfriend section and also discuss how to handle all of the relationships you encounter. For example from parents to siblings, enemies to friends, teachers to coaches, and everything in between.
Hot Topics:“Hot Topics” will include different articles each month on school, sex, drugs, alcohol, abuse, finding your identity, and sexuality.
Music & Stuff:The “Music and Stuff” section will contain an interactive game used to focus on the lyrics in songs. This will be followed by a forum where you will be able to communicate thoughts and views about the meaning of songs and other topics discussed in the magazine. Also, we will have an article for you to keep up with everyday news around the world that effects you, and on the life styles of the rich and famous. The final section in will be include different places where you can find volunteer opportunities in your area, and read about the importance of giving back to the community in a way that is fun and meaningful to you.
Goals:The “Goals” section will open up each month with a “Feature of The Month,” which will be on a young person we have interviewed that has successfully started their own business. Next, we will have an article that gives them tips on how to set and achieve goals of your own, including what to do when you get off track. Additionally there will be a section on finances to help you learn about budgeting, credit, and the importance of saving. This section will also contain worksheets and quizzes so our you can make sure you are applying what you are reading.
Image:The “Image” section will be designed to help you see the importance of your outer image and how closely it relates to your inner image. We will be discussing being healthy physically and mentally, dressing for success, and overall cleanliness. Also, we will have a “Girls becoming women” and “Guys becoming Men” section designed to help you get through that sometimes awkward phase between being a child to be coming an adult when your body, emotions, and urges change.
Voice:“Voice” will be a section wherein you can creatively express yourself. The beginning of the section will include an article written by a teen just like you that talks about an obstacle in life that they have overcome. The intent of this article is for other teens dealing with the same issue to be able to see that someone else overcame that issue and feel encouraged that they can do the same. So this can be your chance to give back and help someone else. Also, this section will allow you to submit work to be published including pictures you took or drew, poetry, spoken word, etc. We hope that through this section you can help encourage other teens to do positive things that they are passionate about as well.
