Blissful Attraction or Just a Distraction?
Okay, you have the best plan! You know where you are headed in life. You mapped out all your goals. And, you are on track. Nothing can stop you, and then “they” walk by. You know who I am talking about; that nice looking guy about 5’9” with the light brown eyes, who seems to always know just what to say. Or, that pretty girl with the long hair, hazel eyes, curves like a coke bottle and a walk that would make a blind man look twice... Otherwise, known as the distraction. Now, Im not saying is that every person you find attractive is a distraction; however I am saying if all of a sudden you are not quite meeting your goals like you were or you have forgotten how to even spell the word goal, there is a problem. There is nothing wrong with being in a healthy relationship, but you have to know the difference between a healthy relationship and a distraction. Anyone that you plan on being in a relationship with should only enhance what you are already doing, not be a distraction. Your significant other should either be helping you meet your goals or encouraging you to stay focused on them. Here are some ways to know when this blissful attraction is just a distraction.1. They do not have any goals. If they do not have goals they will only keep you from achieving yours.
2. You can’t seem to think about anything else but them. I said a healthy relationship is good. If you can’t seem to get simple tasks done without having to stop and call this person you are most likely infatuated and that is never good.
3. They are always calling you. Okay, so maybe you would like to complete your everyday task, but you can’t because your phone is vibrating every 5 minutes. Even though you would like to be productive, they are keeping you from that which is not going to work.
4. If they do not fit into your future plans, they are a distraction. Now I know this can be hard because we like to think we are just having fun sometimes, but have you ever noticed how often some of those “just fun” ventures have turned into a problem later? Please don’t go down that road. Just cut your loses and keep it moving.
5. Finally, and the most evident sign, your life has started to go downhill ever since they showed up. This is NOT a coincidence. They are bad for you, so do not try to fix it just leave them alone. Further involvement with them will only cause you to hit rock bottom!
